Dr. Steven J. Hughes, pediatric neuropsychologist, will present “Good at Doing Things” in the Coryat Media Center at Santa Barbara Montessori School, 7421 Mirano Drive, Goleta.

Dr. Hughes’ presentation is open to the public, and will be of particular interest to parents and educators. Tickets are $15/ea for adults; $10 for students. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.

In this highly visual, rapid-paced and entertaining talk, Dr. Hughes will discuss how a brain-based approach to education provides an unparalleled foundation for a child’s intellectual, psychological, academic and social development. Dr. Hughes will also demonstrate how a Montessori education fosters critical-thinking, empathy and leadership skills.

Dr. Hughes is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist who specializes in assessment and treatment planning for children and young adults who have problems with attention, concentration, organization, and related executive functions. Dr. Hughes served as a member of the faculty at the University of Minnesota Medical School/Pediatric Clinical Neurosciences Division. He now consults with organizations about educational programs, and speaks to groups around the world about developmental education, neurocognitive disorders and parenting.
